Loved, Valued, Challenged

Our love of reading

Reading is important because it develops the mind. ...

Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability.

Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language skills. It also helps them learn to listen.

Every week, the children will be assigned a coloured book band book from class, along with a class library book and two books on Rising Stars. Each time your child reads a school book, please write a note and comment in their orange reading diary to let me know how they have read at home.

The children will also be reading at least once in school with an adult.

As part of out school homework, we do expect the children to read at

least four times at home each week.

If your child reads 5 times each week (4 reads at home and 1 read at school).
