Reading is important because it develops the mind. ...

Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability.

Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language skills. It also helps them learn to listen.



Every week, the children will be assigned a coloured book band book, along with a class library book and two books on Rising Stars. Once the children have read one of these books, please write a note in their reading diary to let me know how they have read at home. The children will also be reading at least once in school.


For every five reads during the week, your child will receive a stamp and then for every 25 reads, I will hand out a reading certificate. Due to Covid, I will be keeping a log/chart of the number of times your child reads s
