School Council Meeting with County Councillors

On Monday 14th October, our School Council members were very excited to meet with Philip Rostance a local councillor.  We also had a surprise special guest appearance from Councillor Kevin Rostance who is the current chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council.  We felt incredibly privileged to meet both councillors who took a break from their incredibly busy schedule to visit our school.  Only a few days before our visit, Mr Rostance welcomed Prince Harry to Nottingham.  However, he informed us he was more excited about visiting Holy Cross than meeting royalty!  We had a great morning holding a meeting with the councillors in our Cosy Cabin.  It was fascinating to learn about the things councillors are responsible for from road pot holes to recycling! We found out about the different jobs members of the council have during a meeting and the jobs we need people to do during our meetings.  We also learned how to set an agenda and have set an agenda for our next meeting after half-term.  This agenda involves a competition we hope to organise…watch this space!  We even had the opportunity to wear the chairman’s Chain of Office.  We definitely think we have some future Chairs among our councillors!  We would also like to thank our visitors for taking our wonderful harvest donations to the charity Under One Roof.
