As part of our commitment to supporting the programming element of our computing curriculum, we have been running an after school Code Club, primarily aimed at children in Years 4-6.
Code Club is a nationwide network of after-school coding clubs for children. More details can be found at codeclub.org.uk.
Code Clubs support children through step-by-step activities enabling children to create their own games, animations and websites, using Scratch, HTML/CSS and Python, as well as learning the fundamental concepts of coding at the same time.
Learning to code is more than just a vocational skill: it changes the way children analyse and solve problems, and encourages creative thinking and collaboration, supported by a local coding expert.
